All Children are assessed during week 1 and 2 to ensure the new classes are balanced, any changes to the classes will then be made.

The children are then re-assessed from week 8 to ascertain how much progress has been made, which Seals award the children will be tested on during week 12 and which class the children need to be placed in for the following term.

The assessments are based on the criteria set in the Seals Swimming Lesson Structure and Award Scheme ensuring progress is made and pupils are learning to their full potential.
